How can Mindfulness Help You

Maybe you are here because, you suffer with anxiety or depression, or maybe you have a very stressful life and need to find some calm and peace.

Whatever the reason, let us look at how this 8 Week Mindfulness Course can help you.

Are you ready to work on your mental health and well-being?

I believe, that most people would agree, taking care of our mental health and well-being ought to be a priority.  Do you?

It certainly seems to be more prevalent in mainstream media, plus an increasing number of business are investing in the promotion of positive mental health and well-being for their staff, knowing that they will see the benefits.

Is now the right time for you to invest in yourself?

“It’s never a waste of time or money to invest in yourself, no matter the source. True wealth begins inwards and emits its light outward into everything else, including the people you surround yourself with.” ― will.i.am

True wealth begins within, whether you are poor or have millions in the bank, how you feel matters.

A rich person can feel depressed and anxious, finding little joy in life, where as someone with little means can beam most days with a genuine smile of happiness and joy.

Investing in your mental health and well-being can help you to enjoy life and increase your resilience, helping your to cope more effectively with the challenges of life.

Beyond this, it will have a positive effect on those around you and care for you, after all, they want to see you happy and enjoying life as much as you do for them.

Taking the time now to invest in yourself, will not only put you in a stronger position to positively effect loved ones, you will also be taking the lead and encouraging them to do the same.

So why are people turning to mindfulness and how can mindfulness help you?

One of the reasons for mindfulness becoming so successful is due to its beginnings within the medical profession.

Jon Kabat-Zinn a professor at the University if Massachusetts Medical Centre, developed the 'Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction' programme to help in patients recovery, this yielded very positive results.

Since this early success, scientific research into the effectiveness and scope of mindfulness is in the 10's of thousands.

Why our 8 week mindfulness course is effective

Perfect for beginners & non-competitive approach

When first starting something new, its often a worry about how well you think you'll do.

This course however really starts at the very basics, with a gentle guided approach every step of the way.

You will be provided with home practice guides, with audio's, allowing you to practice at your pace, even after the course is over.

Unlike other classes there is no exact, right or wrong, this creates a non-competitive atmosphere leaving you free to learn at your own pace.

Bringing calm and peace

If you have ever tried to do something when your mind is in chaos, you will know how difficult that can be.

Mindfulness is about being in the moment and as you learn to bring your mind to the hear and now people find that they let go of their worries and anxieties, bringing a sense of calm and peace along with it.

This calming within, not only helps us to feel better, it also aids us in learning, as our minds find it easier to concentrate and reflect.

Learning to be in the present

Being in the moment, really is the core of Mindfulness.

Much of our time can be spent with our minds drifting to the past, or being concerned with our future, this can be useful to us, such as planning, organising or learning from past events.

Problems often do occur however if we allow are minds to drift into the past or future for to long, the only true place we can live is in the here and now.

Mindfulness helps us to recognise when the mind drift is happening, we can then decide if it's useful or not, allowing us to be in the present and enriching our daily experiences.

Connecting with our bodies and using our senses

There is plenty of research that shows how the brain effects our physical health and vice versa.

We tend to live such busy lives rushing around, that we can easily lose touch with our own bodies, yet those aches and pains are trying to tell us something.

Think now of a time you have done something positive for your body, a nice hot bath or gong for a massage, do you remember the positive effect it had on your well-being at the time?

This course will help you connect and listen to your body, not only can this aid you in taking greater care of your physical health, it will help to enhance your experience of the world around you as you learn to use all of your senses in a new way.

Everything we know and learn about the world around us comes to us through are 5 senses, touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing, when we combine mindfulness with these 5 senses during the course, the result are profound, you will understand why it's hard to describe to someone, as it's really something you have to experience for yourself.

Our thoughts and feelings

A significant part of this 8 week course is around Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.

Let me first reassure you, there is No requirement to share any personal problems or difficulties during any of this course.

Pupils are given the opportunity to share personal experiences if they wish to and it will be common for the teacher to share experiences as a way to help illustrate lessons.

This means, you can feel more than welcome to just listen and internalize the lessons in your own way.

The way in which we think internally about are experiences has a direct impact on how we feel and behave, so this course provides exercises to help you understand this process.

During the course you will also be invited to reflect internally on your own thoughts and feelings, we ask that only minor examples are used for the purpose of practising, so as not to be overwhelming.

Then with the home practice guides, you'll be able to increase this practice within your own time and pace enabling you to face more challenging situations.
